January 9th Official Welcome to the Community!!



YOUR ORGANIC COUNTRY CUPBOARD OFFICIALLY WELCOMED TO THE COMMUNITY BY LEADERS AND RESIDENTS!!! SATURDAY, JANUARY 9th–Official Ribbon Cutting!

A warm reception was attended by Community members, Local Artists/Crafters/Musicians, the local offices of Senator(s) Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin, Smithsburg’s Mayor “Mickey” Myers, and Councilman, Jerome Martin–who spoke on behalf of the local environment and communities. Along with the Senators’ local offices bestowing store owner, Patti Worsley with recognition and well wishes, there were Cetificates, Letters and Citations presented from Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley, West Virginia Governor Munson, State Representative, Christorpher B. Shank, and both, Hagerstown’s and Frederick’s Mayors.
Smithsburg’s Mayor, Mickey Myers reminisced with the audience about her memories of the old Paul Groves’ Store site----which is now: Organic Country Cupboard and Craft Shop! The Mayor stated that she remembered when the store was the hub of the community, and was excited to see that it’s new owner is also community-minded! (The store’s motto is: “Building Community One Cup at a Time!”)
The OrganicCoffee/CraftShop welcomes commuters as early as 5AM, and hosts daily “community building” Specials like Local Talent Shows, Gumption the Dragon Storytimes, and Spelling Bees!
The official ribbon cutting was performed by the youngest community member present: Miss Helen of Middletown!
